Portland High School to Host CEMC’s 88th Annual Meeting

Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation’s 88th Annual Meeting is just around the corner!

This year’s meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, at Portland High School in Sumner County. Members will be admitted at 8 a.m. for registration and voting, and the business session will begin at 10 a.m.

Between times, members are invited to pick up an attendance gift (one per registered member, while supplies last), enjoy a complimentary breakfast, browse the selection of door prizes, visit our information booths, bring the kids by the youth corner for inflatables and age-appropriate prizes, and enjoy live music provided by Rising Creek.

Four seats on CEMC’s board of directors will be filled during the meeting: Director at Large, North Montgomery, North Stewart and South Sumner. CEMC’s nominating committee met Aug. 5 and recommended incumbents Shela Williams, Ryne Harper, Charles Hancock and Edgar Swan for re-election to new three-year terms. The North Montgomery County seat is contested, with Dr. Jaysen “Jay” Yarbrough of Clarksville nominated by petition to run against incumbent Ryne Harper. We’ll also present the financial report and share highlights from the cooperative’s activities over the past fiscal year.

If you can’t attend the annual meeting, you can still participate through early voting at any CEMC business office on Friday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early voting will be conducted via drive-thru, providing a quick and convenient option for members. Registered members who participate in early voting will be eligible for $100 electric bill credits and giveaways.
